SABAH BEATBOX BATTLE, MALAYSIA

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
11-12 April 2015

We did not really planned the journey since it will be just a one day event. Syahid did not joined because of his semester exam due Saturday.

We took MAS flight of 7.30 am, so we leave home as early as 4.30 am.

The flight was only 3/4 full and the breakfast served was acceptable.

Arrived slightly around 10.05, had to rush to centrepoint for early registration of the Beatbox Battle. Such a pleasant surprise to see the new Airport. Air Asia plane goes to the other airport.

Paid for Airport Taxi, took a 25 minutes smooth ride and rushed to Centrepoint, level 4. KK is hot and dry coz it had not rained for more than 2 months.

We met the organizer and proceed with registration. 37 contestants signed up including 2 groups. The contestants were mostly Sabahan and Afiq is the only beatboxer from west malaysia.

Meanwhile 3 of us went for a short walk to the waterfront.
Group photo before the event kicked-off, contestants, judge, emcees and organisers.
Afiq's turn came in as the 29th contestants about 2 hrs later, he was given 3 minutes to beatbox it.

To Abah surprise Afiq received thunderous applause and very encouraging critics from the head judge, he has the WOW factor.

Afiq battle it up very very fiercely especially during the last 8th contestants and he grudgingly bows out from a critical duel with non other than The Champion, Andri.

At the last hour Afiq won fifth place and a consolation of RM 100. Very well done Afiq. Not bad at all for first timer in a Beatbox Battle.

Then we were back to Hotel for quick shower and we head for dinner at Pasar Ikan.

Such a pleasant view and smell of the grilled fish and seafoods.

We chose one of the nicer stall for hot-cooking seafood. We are not at all deceived the fishes are very deliciously cooked.

Then the kids went back to Hotel and we went for foot massage and ear candling session just a few blocks away from hotel.

2nd Day
After a simple breakfast at Hotel we make our way walking to Pasar Gaya. It was just a 15 minutes walk and we enjoyed the quiet morning walk among the old shoplots in KK town centre.

Pasar Gaya.
It is a must-see event every sunday morning. all things you want to find in KK are traded here.
You can find the cheapest things at USD 0.5 upto USD 500, like the exotic rooster down here, the local calls it "ayam serama".

Such a pleasant way to spend sunday morning.

Then we took this long elevated bridge straight to the Wet market and Filipino Market. Ibu found the avocado here very cheap and much bigger size than in west malaysia.
It was all typical of the Pasar Ikan and its hustle and bustle.
We took a short stopover for a cup of tea and some local delicacies.

Such a colorful sights of fresh seafoods and farm produces.

Then its time to check-out, quick lunch at basement of Centrepoint and then taxi ride to Airport.

Goodbye KK, we will always visit you someday.
