PERCUTIAN KE ANNECY AND CHAMONIX - Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Today will be the highlight of our Europe holiday, because we intend to conquer "le toit de l'Europe" or the roof of Europe, Mont Blanc at 4,800 m. To achieve that  we see two options, by train or by car, after a quick comparison with the lady from train station and car rental executive, the train would cost around Euro 212 and car Euro 350, so train it is.

We booked our train one day earlier and departed at 11.30 am. BUt before that...a quiet morning stroll, baguette and expresso cafe and hot chocolate at local cafe.

Then all set to train station.

Some shots of the journey to chamonix after two train changes and 1h 30m.

Quiet little town with one or two passengers....hmm really not peak season.

And we are here in Chamonix, you couldn't believe the train station is smaller than a bus stop.

A cable car took us with other 25 peoples to Aiguille du Midi at dizzying heights of 3,842 m altitude, it took about 7 min for first platform and another 7 min up to the summit.

Then finally the top of Aiguille du Midi. Mont Blanc is at the background. At this summit Abah and Zeti had to sit down and stabilize our breathing because of lack of Oxygen. The others seems to have a normal feeling, Afiq even do some chicken dance.

You noticed how every mountain were right below us...

Some mountain workers are seen cleaning the top part of the observation platform.

See how tiny the town of Chamonix from the peak...

Then we took some hot teas and fritters at the restaurant.

These shots were taken at the lower platform where we found patches of snow and we showered each others with them.

We had a jolly good reason to enjoy the snow, the winter is about two months away, in 2 years we will try to come in December.

Syahid is collecting some specimen of snow to take home to his friend...??

Some shots at Chamonix small town, a classic ski-town views. A real feast to the eye.

This is really one of the best small town we have been, so serene and peaceful.

And by 6.50 pm the nightfall only adds serenity to the the environment. Good bye Chamonix, Aiguille du Midi and Mont Blanc. We'll meet again sometime.

END OF DAY 5

_________________________________________________________________________________

A very bright and sunny morning, we planned to prepare sandwich for lunch in the train. We also finish cleaning the apartment around 11 am.

Abah and Ibu walked to Intermarche to get some groceries. We will quickly prepare some take away food while in the high speed train.

Syahid and the guys went for a walk and took a cup or two of hot tea and hot chocolate.

Getting ready for Delphine and her daughters to inspect the apartment and handover the keys.

Some shots of the apartment and the environ.

Final photo of the Host and the Guests. Delphine was such a good host, she even arranged for us to visit her father in Paris to see him perform a piano session at an ancient church near The Louvre.

We are off to the train station, about 8 min walks from the apartment. Goodbye Apartment De la Prairie, Goodbye Annecy, we will meet again sometime.
