SIEM REAP 2017

Siem Reap historical walkabout
18-21 March 2017

This time round we got the whole family in...nothing satisfies me better.

Arrived at Siem Reap International Airport...such a new and fabulous looking airport.

The immigration qeue was moderate....but Afiq and Ibu were charged with RM 10 each for unknown reason!...me and the rest was not requested to pay. It felt fishy.

For USD 15 we took a mercedes Van with a talkative driver to our hotel about 20 minutes drive. What was funny were the fact that the driver hardly passed 40km/h, I thought he wanted a longer conversation.

The Hotel is called Golden Mango Inn, located just behind a 4 stars hotel on the Golden Mango road. It is about 10 minutes drive from city centre.

It was essentially a huge 2-storeys villa with about 10 rooms + another villa at the back with another 10 rooms.
After a short break in the rooms we went out to check the local scene and possibly find lunch.
It was a hot and dry day with dusty roads and never ending motorcycles and tuk2 streaming along.

7 minutes later we found a local wet & dry markets.

We thought it was fake golds but it was actually real ones.

Same with these currencies, it was actually the money-changers, so we convert some dollars into Riels. USD10= Riel 39,000.

Tried to samples some street fruit....keep them clean with mineral water.

Eventually we ended up having lunch at the Hotel.
Next morning we took breakfast and ready to explore the Angkors.

We took the services of the same driver yesterday.

First stop was the ice-lady

This is where we bought the entrance tickets. There are 1 day, 3 days and 7 days period tickets....unlucky for us the 1 day tickets has just increased from 20 USD to 37 USD two months ago.

This stop is a mini killing fields

Our first Angkor is the mighty Angkor Thom.
